What are the typical feedings for a newborn
  • Newborns typically need to eat every 2 -3 hours, including during the night. Breastfeeding or formula feeding during the night helps ensure they receive adequate nutrition for growth and development.

How often does the baby nurse change the baby? 
  • Newborns have small bladders and bowels, so they may need frequent diaper changes, even at night, to prevent discomfort and diaper rash.

  •  Newborns may wake up at night due to discomfort from gas, colic, or simply the need for comforting. Providing reassurance and soothing techniques can help them settle back to sleep.

What is a baby nurse? 

Night nurse", "baby nurse" or "newborn care specialist" are common terms to describe a newborn care provider. A newborn care provider is an expert in newborn care, a great support system and a wonderful resource when you have a new baby. These providers, are  qualified, experienced professionals who will typically work at night, taking over the baby's care while the parents get some much-needed rest. 

Do you establish a regular routine for the baby? 
  • Yes Consistent overnight care helps establish a stable routine for the newborn, which can aid in regulating their sleep patterns over time

Does the baby nurse monitor the baby? 
  • Yes  Newborns require monitoring for signs of illness, distress, or other issues. This includes checking their temperature, breathing, and overall well-being throughout the night

Do I need a RN or a newborn care specialist? 

The duties of our baby nurse RN’s and overnight newborn care providers are the same. Our Registered Nurses and Newborn Care Specialists  support parents taking care of their babies during the night.

What type of families are your baby nurses good for?

Anyone who would like to rest and sleep during the night and not feel exhausted during the day. 

  • New parents. For first time parents services are invaluable. 

  • Parents with more than one child. When parents have a second baby, making sure they spend quality time with their oldest kid is a must. Having a baby nurse allows parents to get extra time for bedtime and breakfast with their other kids. 

  • Parents living away from their families and close friends.

  • Mothers recovering from a delivery or a C-section. When moms go through a C-section extra support is a must. 

  • Single parents or households with no dual parental leave.

  • Parents with multiples (twins-triplets). For parents-to-be of multiples help is essential. We love supporting them and educating them through life with more than one newborn.

  • Parents who don't want to be sleep deprived during the newborn stages. 

How will my baby nurse - newborn care specialist support me?
  • The baby nurse will come in at night to take care of your baby overnight. 

  • The baby nurse will take over the baby duties so you can sleep and get the rest that you need.

  • Typically, our families will have a baby nurse from 9pm - 7am or  8pm-7am. We do our best to accommodate to the family's request. 

  • The baby nurse will stay with the baby in either the nursery, a comfortable room with the monitor so she can relax as well.

  • The baby nurse will attend to your babies needs through the night. That includes feeding, burping, holding, changing and comforting your baby.

  • The baby nurse will log the baby’s activity on a shared app or texted log of all your child’s activities. she will share with you nightly routines including feeding, sleep and behavior patterns.

How will I know what my baby did through the night ?

Besides getting a verbal report from your baby nurse in the morning,  we use a comprehensive and user-friendly app to communicate with the parents. Parents will be able to see a detailed log of the baby’s activities including all feedings, diaper changes, etc., that happened during the night.  or text communication. 

What hours will my baby nurse work? 

The baby nurse will come in at night for 10 to 12 hours. Typically, our families will have a baby nurse from:

  • 9pm-7am

  • 8pm-6am

  • 8:30 pm - 6:30 am 

Some families have a longer morning routine (they have other kids, they have pets, or they have other responsibilities). 

In that case  we do 12 hour shifts like :

  • 7pm-7am

 We always do our best to accommodate to the family's needs. 

Do you offer baby nurse services during the day?

Yes, we do! We require a minimum of 8 hours and  per day shift and the hours are arranged according to your needs. 

Where will the baby nurse stay?
We ask our families to please provide the night nurse with a  comfortable space to stay close to the baby.  Some families provide a bed or a very comfortable rocking chair. Some families have the night nurse stay in the nursery providing there is a place for her to get comfortable after all she will be with your child between 9-12 hours with very little sleep. So comfort is a must
How long should I have a baby nurse for?

Every family is different. Help is crucial during the first three months and parents start weaning according to their needs. Other families have kept a baby nurse every night for the first 6 months. The best thing to do is contact us, so we can discuss your individual needs. We will support you as long as you need us.  There is a minimum of 4 nights to utilize our baby nurse services. And we suggest that the first 14 days are done consistently.  If you need us, we will do anything possible to accommodate your needs. 


 

 

How far in advance should I book my baby nurse?

Early bookings are recommended. Our baby nurses get booked fast and we can only take a limited number of reservations per month. 

However, we do our best to support your family according to availability.

My baby is one month old, can I still have a baby nurse?

Absolutely, please reach out if you need our support. Even though we recommend reservations, our clients are welcome to utilize our baby nurse services at anytime during the newborn stage.

Can I still have a baby nurse if I am breastfeeding?

Definitely, if you are breastfeeding the baby nurse will support you as much as possible through out the night. She will change the baby and get him/her ready for you to feed. The baby nurse will bring the baby to you or let you know when the baby is ready to eat. As soon as you are done feeding, the baby nurse will put the baby back down for you and you can go right back to sleep. 

How can a baby nurse support me if I am pumping?

Pumping frequently is crucial for maintaining a healthy milk supply. That's where having a night nurse can be a game-changer! With a night nurse, you can wake up exclusively to pump while she takes care of feeding your baby. Plus, she'll handle storing the pumped milk and cleaning pump parts and bottles, so you can get back to sleep faster. Say hello to more restful nights and a thriving milk supply!

What is the cost of a baby nurse?

We charge $35 per hour for the services provided and we have a one-time $500 Registration fee per family.

The cost of a night nurse depends on the amount of hours you will need our newborn care providers. Please contact us today for full pricing details.

How does payment for the baby nurse work? 

 We do our billing weekly preferably on Monday mornings to secure the entire week. Payments are due to B&B Baby Nurses LLC and we pay our baby nurses. We accept direct deposit/ACH/ Apple Pay or Venmo e we do not accept checks (sorry for the inconvenience) , and we can take credit card payments via tap pay for (3.5 % fee of the total amount due). You will receive an email and text message with our invoice via email with instructions for payment.  

What is your Cancellation Policy? 

We only commit to reservations we can honor. Please know that if you decide to move forward we will be actively preparing to support your family. 

If you cancel the reservation for our baby nurse services, the registration fee is none refundable. 

Cancellations made with less than 24 hours before the shift scheduled, will be subject to the charge of the shift. 

If your plans change, please let us know so we can place your provider with a different family if needed

Can I Give the Gift of Sleep? 

Sleep deprivation can be a difficult part of parenthood and it can increase the risk of postpartum depression, stress and anxiety.
